Electrical Team
Hammerhead’s electrical system powers and monitors dual 4-cell Li-Po batteries with a custom-built voltage monitor using OP-Amps and an RP2040 microcontroller. Battery health data is sent over a CAN bus for real-time management, ensuring safe and reliable power delivery.
Mechanical Team
Mechanical design optimizes thruster placement and sensor integration to improve durability and performance. The transition from 3D-printed to aluminum mounts enhances strength and longevity, while modular brackets and increased internal space provide flexibility for adjustments. Torpedo launch systems incorporate capacitors and reed switches for accurate and dependable operation during competition.
Software Team
The software system uses YOLO-based object detection and machine learning clustering to identify key underwater features like hydrothermal vents. Color isolation algorithms enable precise detection and tracking of torpedoes during missions, ensuring reliable performance in complex environments.
